Virtual events focus on health, hosted by the Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health

The Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health, with support from the town of Goderich, had hoped to create a speakers series of four events this year.

But Gateway President Gwen Devereaux said COVID-19 changed all of that and so they are delivering the second instalment of the series online at 7 p.m. It's called "Screenagers", and it's aimed at helping parents and grandparents concerned about the amount of time their children and grandchildren are spending in front of their computer screens.

Devereaux said they understand at this time, because of COVID, they have to be online for many of their courses.

“We also realized at this time, at COVID time, they must be online for many of their courses, but there is some health outcome of the usage that we wanted to directly inform parents and grandparents about.”

Devereaux added they also wondered if this was the right time to do this.

“While we wondered if it was the right time to do this, it is the very right time to help your children with better usage on the internet and give some of the parents tools to work with their children.”

The on-demand viewing period with the panel discussion and ZOOM session starts Thursday at 7 p.m.
