Safe Communities Wellington County urging residents to take 10

Safe Communities Wellington County is asking residents to focus on being safer on the eve of Safe Communities Day.

On October 1, the group is asking that residents help reduce the number of preventable injuries that are happening in their communities by taking an extra 10 minutes. That could be for extra time to get to work or to get kids to school to prevent speeding, cleaning up clutter in the home and neighbourhood, or taking some time to meditate and improve your mental health.

Linked to an international movement that began in 1989, Canadian Safe Communities groups believe that a safe life is a basic right. Safe Communities Day is now in its 16th year.

“I love that we are empowering the residents of Wellington County to be part of the solution; working to compliment the, already, amazing work that our first responders and other safety organizations across Wellington County are accomplishing, “ said Christine Veit, program coordinator for Safe Communities Wellington County.
