Police investigating fire at abandoned building as an arson

Perth County OPP are investigating a recent fire in West Perth as an arson.

On August 21 just before 1:30 p.m., officers and the West Perth Fire Department responded to fire at an abandoned residence on Road 164, just south of Mitchell. The residence, which had been abandoned for a number of years, was completely engulfed in flames.

The damage estimate is $200,000, and luckily no one was injured.

Perth County OPP and the Major Crime Unit are being assisted by the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office in investigating this suspected arson.
