Mayor says North Huron not holding up Green's Meat Market from rebuilding

North Huron council discussed a letter from the Huron County Federation of Agriculture during Tuesday's regular meeting.

In a letter dated August 10, the HCFA brought forward its opinion on the state of Green's Meat Market & Abattoir, a recently-burned abattoir near Wingham but contained within the municipality of Morris-Turnberry, not North Huron.

The two municipalities continue to work on extending a cross-border shared services agreement, however, at Tuesday's meeting, North Huron Mayor Bernie Bailey noted that Green's was not part of the previous shared services agreement, saying "Green's was never hooked up to municipal water or sewer in North Huron."

Bailey said North Huron is "not holding anything up" as far as Green's rebuilding, another point the HCFA's letter touched upon.

North Huron council concluded the discussion by choosing to send a letter to the HCFA, explaining the situation in detail.
