School bus driver shortage in Grey and Bruce

There is a school bus driver shortage in Grey and Bruce counties.

This according to Student Transportation Service Consortium of Grey and Bruce Supervisor of Transportation Brian Hayman, who tells CKNX that "approximately 13 routes, or 5% of our total routes, had to be cancelled on Tuesday" due to lack of drivers.

Hayman notes that they Consortium is actively "trying to move around the routes as much as possible, so one route is not cancelled all the time".

13 job postings for drivers in Grey and Bruce were posted on Tuesday as a result of the shortage.

Parents in the two counties are encouraged to go to brucegreyschoolbus.ca and use the alert banner at the top of the page to keep track of cancellations. There is also an email and text message notification service available.

Hayman says the Consortium expects the delays "to go for at least a month, maybe a couple of months".
