Not a traditional start to the school year

Traditionally, school starts the day after Labour Day but this year is anything but traditional.

Some school boards are starting their staggered schedules this week while others are waiting until next week.

In the Bluewater District School Board, JK and SK students will start Tuesday as will Grade 9 students at the secondary level. Each day this week more grades will be added until all students are back in school by Friday with remote learning also starting at the end of the week.

The Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board has staggered its return to school through family groupings this week with full return to class by Monday, September 14.

For the Avon-Maitland District School Board and Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board, staggered entry will start on Monday, September 14.

For the Upper Grand District School Board staggered entry by alphabetical last name will start Thursday for elementary students while secondary students will start September 14 with a specialized schedule.

Although Grade 9 students will attend orientation Thursday and Friday.

Each distinct plan can be found on each of the board's websites.

Health Units have also been part of the school opening process providing information and participating in resources for parents, students and staff to use.
