Contractor airlifted to hospital following workplace accident

A contractor has been airlifted to hospital following a workplace accident.

On August 20 at 10:20 a.m., Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and Seaforth Fire Department responded to a call for assistance at an Egmondville property located at the corner of Kippen Road and Stapleton Avenue.

While working at a vacant lot, an excavated area collapsed around the contractor, trapping them in a deep trench. The victim was quickly freed from the pile and rushed to hospital.

The 64-year-old victim remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate the incident.
