More money to support local economic development

Huron County's Economic Development Department is now accepting applications from municipalities and non-profit groups for its SLED or Supporting Local Economic Development Program.

Economic Development Director Cody Joudry explains municipalities and non-profit applicants must show how they would use the funds in a way that demonstrates clear and obvious economic impact. Examples include growing the work force, diversifying agriculture, creating best in class tourism opportunities or overcoming investment challenges in a community.

The funding is also available to municipalities and non-profit groups, up to a maximum of $10,000.

"One of the important elements in this program is that there has to be an ability to measure the economic impact of it. It creates that accountability but it also creates a measure for us, as a community, to understand what's working and what doesn't work," said Joudry.

More information about the SLED program be found on the ecdev.huroncounty.ca web site.
