Saugeen Shores launches safety video series for National Drowning Prevention Week

The Town of Saugeen Shores has released a new water safety video series for National Drowning Prevention Week this year.

The videos are meant to educate the public on numerous water safety tips.

The four-part video series covers topics like open water safety and beach reminders, backyard pool safety, how to use Saugeen Shore's life-saving stations and new COVID-19 precautions at the harbour.

According to a study by Lifesaving Society, roughly 166 people in Ontario die each year in preventable water-related incidents.

“With 18 km of shoreline in Saugeen Shores, learning how to be safe around water is critical for those living in or visiting our community,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “We hope everyone watches these new informative videos and stays safe this summer.”

National Drowning Prevention Week runs from July 19 to 25.

The videos can be found on the Saugeen Shores municipal website here: http://www.saugeenshores.ca/water-safety.
