Bluewater looks at traffic options for Bayfield

There will not be a roundabout in the village of Bayfield anytime soon.

Councillor Bill Whestone explains the possibility of a roundabout was part of a discussion at Bluewater Council and concerns about pedestrian safety were brought up. Especially when it came to pedestrians crossing from Clan Gregor Square into the village.

Whetstone adds the other issue was the back log of traffic at times, either trying to get into the village or to leave the village.

Another suggestion was to open a one-way street beside Clan Gregor Square to two-way traffic.

"From a safety perspective, many councillors felt it would actually, maybe, make it worse, rather than better. So we're going to stick with what we have today, just tidy up that area as part of the re-vitalization plan, if and when, we get grant money for re-doing it all," said Whetstone.
