SUV goes over the edge in Bayfield, woman faces charges

A 41-year old London woman escaped serious injury after the SUV she was in went over a small embankment in Bayfield this past weekend.

The crash happened Sunday just before 8:25 a.m. when a vehicle went over the edge at the end of Cameron Street near Tuyll Street.

Officers arrived on scene to find an SUV went through the barrier and ended up on the beach below.

Police said the driver allegedly showed several signs of impairment and was arrested and taken to the detachment for a breath test.

Erin Turcott faces a charge of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.

The charges haven't been proven in court.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
