Annual Canada Day fireworks display in North Huron cancelled

The North Huron Fire Fighters Association has made the decision to cancel this year's Canada Day fireworks display, due to provincial orders surrounding COVID-19.

The association is reminding residents that the township has a fireworks by-law if you choose to use them yourself. Fireworks are only permitted on certain holidays including Victoria Day, Canada Day, the August Civic Holiday, Labour Day, New Year's Eve, and any date of community functions approved by North Huron Council.

Also, you must be 18 years of age or older to set off fireworks, and they can only be used on private property.

Some safety tips include keeping a source of water close by when lighting fireworks, light only one at a time, don't light fireworks if wind conditions are poor, and keep your distance.

The association thanks everyone for their past donations towards the fireworks, and looks forward to putting on a great show in 2021.
