Eight officers with South Bruce OPP are now qualified as Project Lifesaver Electronic Search Specialists.
An OPP release says Project Lifesaver uses proven technology that allows first responders to quickly locate a wandering person and get them back to their families.
A missing person is an urgent call for emergency responders. The longer that someone is missing, the greater the concern for their well-being becomes. Project Lifesaver is a proactive program for wandering persons that may not be able to get themselves home
Program participants wear a 1-ounce personalized wristband that emits a continuous frequency which can be tracked by a Project Lifesaver receiver.
In partnership with Victim Services of Bruce-Grey-Perth, the South Bruce OPP is launching Project Lifesaver for the residents of Southern Bruce County. If you have a loved one that you would like to register in Project Lifesaver, please contact Victim Services of Bruce-Grey-Perth at 1-866-376-9852.
"Missing person investigations are a high priority for the OPP. When a missing person with dementia type disorders such as Alzheimer's or other cognitive abilities such as Autism goes missing, the greater the concern. Having the Project Lifesaver equipment and electronic search trained officers at the detachment gives us the ability to quickly reunite missing loved ones with their families.
