Some structural problems in one school and enrollment issues in another forced the Avon Maitland District School Board to make some major adjustments that involved moving 300 pupil spaces out of Stratord Central and over to Stratford Northwestern Secondary School.
Education Superintendent, Jane Morris, explains what that entails in a new set-up for both schools. "So they decided to make Stratford Secondary an intermediate school, so just grades seven and eight and Stratford Northwestern would become the secondary campus and they decided to re-organize this to a one school, two campus model."
The new intermediate school was re-named Stratford Intermediate and the former Stratford Northwestern school has been re-named Stratford District Secondary School.
Morris says what has just recently been completed is the re-branding of each of the schools.
"They're using black and gold to connect the logos. They are the Stratford Falcons for the intermediate site and the Golden Bears for the nine to twelve site and the logos are connected through that black and gold colouring."
