Huron County man facing serious charges

A Huron East resident is facing several criminal charges following an investigation conducted by members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police.

On Tuesday, June 9, 2020, officers received a call from a victim reporting threats through social media.

Members from a number of OPP units executed a search warrant at an address located on 12th Street in Vanastra.

Police took a suspect into custody without incident for uttering threats. Further, he was found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected fentanyl.

Additional investigation resulted in charges being laid for Domestic Mischief in relation to a second victim.

A Huron East resident has been charged with the following offences:

Assault with a Weapon Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Fentanyl Fail to Comply with Probation Order - 2 counts Domestic Mischief - 2 counts

He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 12, 2020, at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
