OPP identify victim of fatal collision in Perth County

Police have identified the victim of a fatal collision involving two pick up trucks in Perth County.

It happened shortly before 1:45 p.m. on June 5, 2020, at Perth Line 44 and Perth Road 180 (Huron 14).

A pick-up truck was travelling westbound on Perth Line 44 and was struck by a second pick-up truck that was travelling northbound on Perth Road 180. Both trucks entered the ditch, and the occupants of the westbound truck had to be extricated by the West Perth Fire Department. ORNGE Air Ambulance attended the scene but did not transport any patients.

The westbound driver, 69-year-old Campbell Sanders of North Perth, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  A post mortem examination was completed on June 6, 2020.

His passenger, a 73-year-old North Perth man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 23-year-old resident of Aylmer was driving the northbound truck and was not injured.

Investigators from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team assisted with the collision investigation.
