Board working on pick up plan

Staff with the Avon Maitland District School Board are still in the process of developing a plan that will allow students to either retrieve items left at school and return things that were taken home.

Communications Manager Chera Longston points out students were expecting a two week closure.

"They were expecting a two week closure so, for the elementary schools, there lots of running shoes and other belongings. For the high schools, students have lockers full of belongings, so we are just finalizing the plan for how the process will work for them to retrieve those items," said Longston. "So it might be text books, or equipment from the classroom or library books, things of that nature. And we're working closely with our public health partners to develop a safe and appropriate process that adheres to all of the Ministerial orders," added Longston.

Longston explains it will have to be a very staggered approach, without families actually entering the school, something along the lines of a curb side pick-up.

They expect to have the details worked in the next week or two.
