Police lay assault charges after victim was struck by a rock

Perth County OPP arrested and charged a suspect with assault after a victim was attacked with a rock.

On May 20 at 4 p.m., officers responded after receiving a call about an assault that occurred in the parking lot of a business on Mitchell Road South in Listowel. During the altercation, the 52-year-old victim was hit in the head with a rock by the accused, suffering non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation determined the two people involved did not know each other.

A 47-year-old suspect of no fixed address was arrested and is now charged with assault with a weapon.

The accused was released and has a court hearing scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date.
