Two Goderich groups to look to recovery

Goderich council has created two Mayor's Task Forces to guide the town as they move through the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor John Grace said their goal is to define what that means and what does the recovery look like. The first task force will focus on the economy.

"One on the economy for small business and large business, but local business, pulling together along with two councillors, the business leaders of the community, the BIA, the Chamber of Commerce, to create a template or vision for council to consider," said Grace.

Grace ssid the second task force, made up of two more councillors as well as community members, will be the most important aspect of the recovery.

"The second group, made up of another couple of councillors and community members, will be the most important aspect of this recovery and that is the social and community well-being, which will be really critical in how we support the safety and health of the most vulnerable of our community," added Grace.

Grace said to move into the through the recovery stage they absolutely have to have a plan and they have to get it right. Grace says he's expecting a report to council in about six to eight weeks.
