Secondary plan for Bayfield delayed

COVID-19 is holding up the completion of a new secondary plan for the village of Bayfield.

Ward Councillor Bill Whetstone said the challenge with creating a secondary plan is that it involves the collection of input from so many community groups.

"The biggest thing about the secondary plan is it takes so much involvement and communication with different groups, residents, including cottagers. So this summer we had expected to get the seasonal residents, their input and obviously COVID has changed things," said Whetstone.

"If we're still in the same situation in September, we're going to have to start looking at some of those opportunities, how we can connect with the public, how can we connect with the different organizations, how can we connect with the residents. It may take more sessions to do that, but it's all about the residents and the cottagers and everybody that lives here," added Whetstone.

He said it may take more sessions to get the information they need, but he points out the secondary plan is all about getting input from the people who live in the community and most likely going to be impacted by the plan.
