Saugeen Shores Police Service arrest man impersonating an officer

A 38-year-old Seaforth resident has been charged with impersonating a police officer.

On the afternoon of May 5th, a Saugeen Shores Police Service officer was conducting a routine patrol when they noticed a suspicious black Ford F-150 pickup truck with a police lights package. The officer stopped the vehicle and found a police light bar with red and blue strobe lights on the roof. Red and blue strobe lights were also located on the upper windshield, embedded in the grill and on the rear of the vehicle.

The vehicle also had a police radio, speaker and microphone. Police suspect the man was using the truck to make false traffic stops, and officers encourage anyone who may have been stopped by this vehicle to call Saugeen Shores Police Service.

If you ever have any concerns over the legitimacy of an officer, you may ask for their badge and warrant card, or call 911 to verify the officer with dispatchers.
