Charges laid following suspicious person report

Reports of suspicious activity in Exeter has led to charges against two Huron County residents.

The incident happened April 12 at about 9:30 p.m. after Huron OPP officers were called to the area of John Street West and Carling Street after a resident noticed two individuals going through backyards in the neighbourhood.

Police located the pair and informed them they can be charged if they were to continue trespassing.

An hour later, police were called again, and when they returned, learned one of the two had tried to break into a shed.

Officers were able to locate and arrest two suspects. A 30-year-old woman from Wingham has been charged with mischief under $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order. A 51-year-old man from Bluewater was also charged with mischief.

Both have court dates scheduled to answer to their charges.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
