The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula is asking people to put off visiting for the next several weeks and visitors already in the area need to make plans to return home.
The municipality said everyone must do their part to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The request comes several days after Parks Canada announced that all land within Bruce Peninsula National Park has been closed, including Cyprus Lake and the Grotto area.
The Bruce Trail within the park, and the visitor centre, are also closed.
The municipality said it has extremely limited health care resources to serve the municipality, noting beds in the hospital in Lion's Head are limited.
