County and municipal councils in Huron County will be able to hold meetings electronically.
Huron County Warden Jim Ginn said the province made changes to the rules because of COVID-19.
"With that was the requirement that we have a quorum present, in person, so that's no longer necessary. So it's great that they're all working together to get this passed and now we can carry on our meetings without worrying about our own safety," said Ginn. "We're using Zoom. We had all call in electronically today, with the exception of three of us that came into the meeting in person. There's a few glitches, but generally, it went OK. So I don't think it should be a problem going forward."
Local councils will have to adjust their procedural by-laws to make it work.
Many counties and municipalities are continuing essential services while things like community halls and public spaces have been closed to the public.
