City of Stratford to close all admin buildings

As the region continues to deal with the developing COVID-19 crisis, the City of Stratford is taking action to help prevent the spread of the virus.

The city announced on Tuesday that as of 4:30 p.m., all administrative buildings will close until further notice. The closure includes City Hall (1 Wellington St.), the City Hall Annex (82 Erie St.), both fire halls (#1 at 388 Erie St. and #2 at 44 McCarthy Rd.), the cemetery building (4 Avondale Ave.), the Public Works Yard (303 King St.) and the Stratford Municipal Airport office.

However, the City of Stratford will continue to provide some services to the community such as Social Services to clients in Stratford, Perth County and St. Marys. Telephones will also still be answered and emails will be responded to during business hours, the city said.

This announcement adds to previous city closures, which include the Rotary Complex, Agriplex, Dufferin and Allman arenas and Anne Hathaway Day Care.

The decision to restrict access to city facilities comes the same day the province declared a state of emergency as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
