Stun gun, baseball bat used during robbery

A West Grey man has been charged after a violent robbery at a home in the Township of Wellington North.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on March 6 at around 7 a.m., a man armed with an electronic stun gun and a baseball bat entered a home on Main Street South and assaulted a victim. The man then stole an undisclosed quantity of cash from the victim.

A suspect has since been arrested by police and he is known to the victim, police said.

During the arrest, police also seized a quantity of codeine and counterfeit money.

As a result, a 44-year-old man from West Grey is now charged with break and enter to commit an indictable offence, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, possession of counterfeit money, failing to comply with an undertaking, failing to comply with a recognizance, robbery with violence, theft under $5,000 and possession of codeine.
