Consultant to review Brockton services to find efficiencies

Brockton will be using their Municipal Modernization Program Grant money from the provincial government to hire a third-party reviewer.

The consultant will take the $175,000 in pre-authorized funding and will deliver a final report in September that will include customer and employee accessibility, security, and energy audit recommendations.

Councillor Tim Elphick voted against the motion and says the funds could be going toward more pressing matters.

"I think it's time that we start to move forward on reaching some tangible objectives that have been set aside by council. The Municipal Modernization Program has the ability to be used to actually move forward on initiatives in the municipality."

No money is required from the municipality for this review but significant staff time is needed to scope the project and lead the consultant.

The next grant intake will be to help fund the implementation of the recommendations.
