South Bruce OPP is hoping to recruit the public to help save victims of human trafficking.
An Awareness Session on Human Trafficking takes place Thursday night in Kincardine.
OPP Constable Kevin Martin said victims of human trafficking are horribly mistreated.
"They're starved, they're drugged, they're forced into the sex trade most commonly, and they just don't see an escape," said Martin. "So unless you and I, or whoever may be witness to this reaches out, makes that phone call to police, unless we intervene, there going to continue being treated like garbage until they finally come to their end," he added.
People can learn how to recognize human trafficking at a public information session tonight from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Kincardine Davidson Centre at 601 Durham St. in Kincardine.
Martin says if people suspect a victim of human trafficking they should contact police immediately.
