The Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation is hosting its third annual Coastal Community Workshop this Thursday evening at the Huron County Museum in Goderich.
Coastal Stewardship Coordinator Hannah Cann said guest speakers will include Cristen Watt from the Huron Stewardship Council.
“She'll be talking about at-risk species along the lakeshore and the Maitland River, Shannon Millar, from Maitland Valley Conservation will be talking about lake levels and coastal processes and erosion. We'll have Zane Davies from Explorers Tread, which is an eco-adventure tourism company.”
Zane Davies from Explorers Tread, will discuss eco-adventure tourism and members of the Freeman Family will also be there to talk about their work on the Sheppardton Tract County Forest.
Cann said the Coastal Community Workshops are always friendly and informal and provide people with an opportunity to engage with the speakers and ask questions and the Coastal Centre will also have booths set up to provide information about things like ice cover and lake levels and what people can do along their shoreline.
“What we like to pride ourselves on with our Coastal Community Workshops is their story-telling kind of nature, ability for people to engage with the speakers and ask them interesting questions and, of course, there's going to be some booths from the Coastal Centre set up with information on ice cover and lake levels.”
The Coastal Community Workshop is free and runs from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Huron County Museum in Goderich.
The event is sponsored by Aqueous Operational Services, Nuclear Waste Management Organization, and Huron County.
