The president of District 8 of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation says they're still waiting to hear if talks are underway between their union and the province.
“We got a bulletin late Friday night that said our provincial negotiators were going to meet informally on Sunday evening to see whether there was enough reason to return to the bargaining table today," said Shane Restall.
Restall said at this point they haven't heard if those negotiations are underway or if it was decided there wasn't enough reason to resume bargaining at this point. Restall added he's optimistic that the fact that they haven't heard anything could mean they're talking.
He notes, of they are negotiating, it would be the first time they've met since December 16.
