Fire chief urges drivers to pull over for volunteer firefighters

Motorists are reminded to pull over when safe to do so if they see a green flashing light in a vehicle behind them.

North Huron Deputy Fire Chief Chad Kreger says the green lights signify that is a volunteer firefighter trying to get to an emergency.

Kreger says the green light "gets us to where we need to go faster. We still have to obey traffic signs, but motorists pulling over gets us there quicker when every second matters".

In Ontario approximately 19-thousand volunteer firefighters are driving personal vehicles equipped with flashing green lights.

Fire chiefs have discussed bringing a motion for an mandatory "pull over" before the Ontario government.
