Teachers picket in front of Bluewater Board Education Centre

About 50 elementary school teachers picketed in front of the Bluewater Board Education Centre in Chesley.

All Bluewater elementary schools are closed on Monday as part of the rotating strikes in the ongoing contract dispute with the province.

"The school boards and the government are at the table with our representatives and we're fighting for maintaining the quality of education we've got right now in Ontario. It's what kids need and what they deserve," said Andrew Chittka, an occasional French immersion teacher.

He said he and the others will continue the strike actions for as long as it takes.

"I'm out here as long as we need to make sure the education system is not compromised by this government. For me, if that means a week or a month, I'm ready to do it."
