Local council partners with local group trying to establish possible children's museum

North Perth Council has entered into a collaborative partnership with a local group that’s looking into bringing a unique attraction to the community.

CAO Kris Snell said council will be partnering up with the Huron Perth Children’s Museum group and will be applying for some funds to help them possibly realize their vision on their behalf.

"So council has agreed to be a collaborative partner in applying to the Ontario Trillium Foundation to do a feasibility study on the possibility of a children's museum to be located in North Perth."

Snell says the vision would be establishing a new learning centre focused on the rural aspect of the area for youth. He notes a feasibility study would need to be completed to determine whether the group’s vision could be realized, and to determine what the community would want," said Snell. "They are looking at how that could be targeted to North Perth and rural Ontario, but really that's the goal of the feasibility study is to see size, what the community wants and those sort of things."

Since the museum group isn’t a registered not-for-profit group as of right now, Snell said council will be making an application to the Ontario Trillium Foundation on the group’s behalf to secure funding to conduct the feasibility study. Snell estimates the cost of the study would be roughly $30,000, and they have until February 26 to apply.
