Local community hall needs some significant repairs

The Victoria Jubilee Hall committee recently attended Brockton Council to update them on their 2019 year, and what needs to be done in 2020.

Bob McCulloch, the chair of the hall, said in terms of local productions, 2019 was very successful.

"We had 23 shows last year, we are open to local community shows and we also had world-class acts. We had Walt Wingfield, the famous show, and they generate quite a bit of income."

But McCulloch said it isn't enough for some major repairs that need to be done. He said they need some help to maintain and repair the building, including the original windows.

"We have to treat them in a special way because it's a historical building, so we have to keep the old windows. We also have a sinking sidewalk and a front porch that needs work, so that's about $10,000 worth of work right there," he said.

McCulloch said the Victoria Jubilee Hall group is asking Brockton Council for a $5,000 donation to help with the repairs. Anyone interested in donating can drop off donations to the hall directly, or visit the Victoria Jubilee Hall website to find out more.
