The Seaforth Hospital is dealing with an outbreak of a gastrointestinal illness.
In a news release Thursday afternoon, Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance President and CEO Andrew Williams said they are "reminding everyone to clean their hands upon entering and exiting the hospital, patient care areas, and patient rooms."
Infection control practitioner Larry Morrell said the illness is causing one to three days of nausea, vomiting, and watery diarrhea. In some cases, people are experiencing fever, headache, and stomach cramps.
People visiting the hospital are asked to visit only one patient and to wear gowns and gloves when visiting infected patients. Those patients who contracted the virus are being isolated.
Visitors who are not feeling well are being asked to postpone their visit until 48 hours after symptoms clear.
