Natural gas expansion continues in southern Bruce County

Snobelen Farms in Lucknow was the site of an announcement Tuesday afternoon regarding the expansion of natural gas into southern Bruce County.

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP and Associate Minister of Energy Bill Walker said the new expansion opportunities for natural gas is a "game-changer" for businesses like Snobelens, noting those involved in farming stand to save hundreds-to-thousands dollars per year, depending on the size of their operations.

Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson said the average household switching to natural gas could save "between $800-$2,500 a year in energy costs."

EPCOR Vice President Susannah Robinson said they have "laid 51 kilometres of pipe since July, and EPCOR will continue to invest in southern Bruce County over the next several years."

Kincardine Mayor Anne Eadie and Bruce County Warden Mitch Twolan were also on hand, two local politicians Robinson singled out as being "essential" towards the project.
