Turbine noise study in Huron County documents responses

A major wind turbine study, spearheaded by the Huron County Health Unit is now complete.

Dr. Erica Clark said the final report contains some descriptive analysis of the percentages of people who reported they were affected by the noise from wind turbines, but they did not have enough respondents to do some of the analysis they had hoped to do.

Those that did take part in the study were living within one kilometre of an active wind turbine.

Dr. Clark said they found that just under sixty per cent of the households had at least one person in them who reported being bothered, disturbed, or annoyed by the wind turbine noise.

The challenge in the future, according to Dr. Clark, is how they track or deal with what's happening when they don't have any regulatory authority around the technology.
