Too many geese in the Lion's Head area

The Municipality of North Bruce Peninsula will host a public meeting next month to discuss a geese management plan for the Lion's Head waterfront.

C-A-O Bill Jones says in that area "we've seen the geese population swell to the point where there's, in a very small area, up to 300 geese at any given time."

Jones says the municipality has tried everything from "strobe lights to native bush planting along the water's edge" to deter the geese, but most of these only have a small effect.

Jones says "we're going to discuss what has been done in the past, and some of the options we can look forward to in the future and try and develop a plan to keep the goose popualtion in check."

A public meeting is planned for December 11th at the Rotary Hall in Lion's Head, starting at 7:00p.m.
