Grey Bruce OPP officers responding to a medical distress call administered Naloxone to an unconscious man.
Officers were called to Cameron Drive in the Saugeen First nation to find the victim of an apparent drug overdose.
Police and Saugeen First Nation Firefighters arrived about 10:52 p.m. on November 22 and determined the man needed the opioid antidote.
The man regained consciousness, and Bruce County paramedics arrived to transport the victim to the hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
Police reminded residents that most overdose incidents occur inside a residence, making it difficult for police and emergency services personnel to provide the necessary assistance unless they are called.
The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act (GSDOA) provides some legal protection for individuals who seek emergency help during an overdose. If you know someone who struggles with drug use, you are urged to know how you can help in the event of an overdose.
