The water level of Lake Huron is expected to continue rising into 2020, according to the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority.
Flood and Erosion Safety Services Coordinator Stephen Jackson said he is encouraging property owners with structures close to the water to "prepare for the possibility of flooding and freezing spray."
"Freezing spray problems will be similar to those experienced back in 1986," he said.
Looking ahead to 2020, the MVCA said forecasts are showing lake levels in February and March to be approximately 30 centimeters higher than during the same period in 2019.
Communications Coordinator Jayne Thompson said clay bluffs are also a major concern, as they are susceptible to erosion and the pounding of waves at the base of the bluffs increases the risk of significant bluff failure.
