Police remain on-scene at a crash just outside of Elmira that has now been confirmed as fatal.

It was confirmed on Twitter just before 12:30 this afternoon that a multi-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 86 between County Road 85 and Line 86 near Elmira. The vehicles involved are blocking the roadway, and emergency services are on-scene. The crash involved a tanker truck that crashed into a pick-up that was attempting to turn onto Reids Wood Drive. The pick-up then collided with a large box truck and caught fire. Officers on-scene confirmed the lone occupant in the pick-up died. The large tanker truck was carrying septic waste, and rolled over and spilled its contents.

Police remain on-scene investigating and say charges are pending. Highway 86 will remain closed for roughly 2-4 more hours.
