ABCA providing grants to schools

Teachers and students attending schools within the Ausable Bayfield Watershed have until December 16th to submit applications for a Watershed Champion Grant.

ABCA Conservation Educator Denise Iszczuk explains they've been going to the schools more often recently.

"We've noticed that some schools are wanting to improve their outdoor learning spaces and we thought of helping them improve their outdoor learning spaces by offering them a grant, and this grant is about 500 dollars."

Iszczuk says the program is funded by Nextera Energy and the grant would go towards a project within their school yard or in their community.

"It could be a physical thing, like taking action or it could be creating awareness, maybe an event or some kind of learning opportunity."

Any school within the Ausable Bayfield Watershed is eligible to apply by December 16th, and schools with successful applications will be notified by the end of January.
