A local group in Listowel is looking to get a dog park built in the town.
Siobhan Jackowski and Nancy Conley Keeso are the directors of Wag N' Tails Dog Park Inc, and the presented their plans to North Perth Council last night. Jackowski said they just became incorporated and are getting some of the smaller steps out of the way, and now they need to tackle another big step.
"Now, where we are at, is we need a plot of land, and we need that land so people can get behind us in the community. Then they know where it's going to be, we have a physical site," said Jackowski.
Jackowski said the rough estimate for building the park is about $100,000, and once they have a site figured out, then they can really dig into fundraising efforts, which will begin soon.
"Then we can go ahead, we can start our fundraising. Our first fundraiser will be the Pet Valu's Christmas Pet Photos, and you can come in with any of your pets and get your photo taken. It's a great opportunity, just $25," said Jackowski.
Jackowski said the ideal area for the dog park would be land in behind the new Steve Kerr Memorial Complex, because it is lit, has a parking lot, waste disposal and has access to water. For more information or to submit fundraising ideas, visit the Wag N' Tails Dog Park Facebook page.
