Huron County preparing to sell complex south of Clinton

Huron County council has asked staff to provide notice of its intention to sell the current county Health and Library Complex building south of Clinton.

CAO Meighan Wark said it's part of the process of amalgamating the Huron and Perth Health units.

She said the amalgamation is scheduled to be completed by January 1, and part of that process is deciding where Huron County staff will be located after the amalgamation.

Wark details the first step in that process.

"The first step in the process is for the building to be declared surplus and then after that, there will be an opportunity for the newly-amalgamated health unit to decide whether or not they want to take it on as a building in the future," she said. "It would be declared surplus to the county so it would be up to the newly-amalgamated group to determine whether or not they were looking to continue to operate out of that building. There would still be a building in Perth County."

Wark said the former Health and Library Complex would become the primary Huron site for health unit services.
