Earlier on Friday, police said they'd arrested a 42-year-old man following a two-month investigation into meth trafficking.
They seized 468 grams of the drug along with morphine, oxycocet, crack cocaine and cash.
The suspect was held for a bail hearing on Friday.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
