Speed limit at the north end of Blyth to be reduced

The speed limit on Highway 4 at the north end of Blyth is being reduced.

County Engineer Steve Lund said they're adjusting the speed limit to reflect the built-up area at the north end and they're adjusting their bylaw to reflect that.

Lund said the speed limit is being reduced from 90 kilometres per hour to 50 kilometres per hour in the built-up area.

“At the north end of Blyth there's some recent development that's occurred so we're just adjusting that boundary where the 50 starts and moving it a little further north, so those areas that are developed now are in 50-kilometre speed zone rather than 90, which is a little bit safer," said Lund.
