School Bus Safety Week underway

The Student Transportation Service Consortium of Grey-Bruce is marking School Bus Safety Week with a reminder to motorists on the importance of coming to a full stop come if the red signal-lights of a school bus are flashing.

Throughout Grey-Bruce, 16,200 students are transported to and from school daily, and the behaviour of motorists and students can ensure they get there safely.

Many students also use school buses to travel on field trips or participate in athletic events.

There is a maximum fine of $2,000 and six demerit points under the Highway Traffic Act for vehicle owners who choose to disobey the law and illegally pass a stopped school bus.

On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, we will celebrate School Bus Driver Appreciation Day. Parents, guardians and school staff are encouraged to recognize their school bus drivers
