Perth East receives grant for Seniors Program

Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece has announced that the Township of Perth East is receiving a Seniors Community Grant of $7,010.

The funding will help the Township run the local Seniors Lunch and Learn program.   It provides seniors with a social setting to participant in an educational session while enjoying a meal.

The program is one of 260 projects across Ontario and part of a $3 million government investment.

“Our government is committed to helping seniors stay active, healthy, and socially connected within their communities,” said MPP Pettapiece.    “By helping seniors stay active, and engaged in their communities, we can help end social isolation.”

“This year’s funding will go a long way in helping seniors to access programs and services where they live,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility.    “Investing in seniors’ health and well-being also helps to keep seniors out of the hospital, reducing strain on the health care system.”

Perth East Mayor Rhonda Ehgoetz added, “This money will be used to give our seniors the opportunity to socialize over a meal, be able to network more and learn about activities that are focused on safety and the wellbeing of seniors.    Sessions will be held throughout Perth East.”
