Grade nine students with the Avon Maitland District School Board are outperforming the provincial average in math, according to the latest results from the Education Quality and Accountability Office. 59% of applied math students met or exceeded the provincial standard, compared to a 44% average across Ontario. In Academic math, 87% made the standard, while across the province, the average was 84%. However, 75% of students met the standard in the Grade ten literacy test, which trails the 80% provincial average. Primary and Junior reading, writing and math results in the Avon board were very close to the provincial average.
