Owen Sound Police Service is recruiting volunteers for the Auxiliary Policing Unit.
The application process closes at 12 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019. Successful candidates will begin their training in February 2020.
The Auxiliary Police Unit is a great opportunity for members of our community to participate in making a difference and can be a great way for young adults to gain job and life experience
Applicants must be 19 by next March, of good moral character, with the physical and mental ability to perform their duties. You also must have your grade 12, plus current first aid and CPR certification. Candidates must be willing to commit at least 2 years to the Auxiliary Policing Unit. Other requirements include Canadian citizenship or permanent residency of Canada A valid drivers licence, and consent to an Enhanced Police Records Check and a Criminal Record Check.
Upon acceptance to the program, training will involve approximately 14 evenings (7 p.m. to 10 p.m.) during weekdays and one full Saturday (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) over approximately a two-month period.
To join the Auxiliary Policing Unit, candidates must successfully complete all interviews, examinations and course.
